I tried to search Google to see if I can find some pics of the LGA 1156 sockets, but for P55 and H55 to see if this difference applies to all H55 boards compared to P55 boards, and if this is true, then that piece is then definitely relative to the integrated graphics for the i3.
but unfortunately, I couldn't find results about this.

the piece I was talking about is like the ones I referred to in the picture, but as I said, it's located on the back of the socket, and almost on the centre of the back, just like where I pointed to in the pic (but from behind for sure)

I really don't know what to call it in English, or even in Arabic.. lolllllllllllllllllll.


its size is almost like the no. 1 in the illustrated picture, and it's was not fixed from all sides like the BIOS chip is, only from 2 sides against each other, so I just saw it was disconnected from one side, and seemed like it was supposed to be connected from both sides, because there was iron referring that it was held by it, so I pushed it a bit that it got connected from both sides ( it was hanging from only one side).

Not really. I mean, it's an integrated circuit, a microchip. I have no idea why it is there. What we need, though, is a picture of the damaged part to see if it can easily be fixed, or if you should leave it alone and run.

no, it's not damaged, if it was, then it wouldn't work, I am posting from the PC in my sig, which has this mobo I am talking about, but I am just asking, just like you, I don't know why the hell it's there !! thinking.gif and why it was hanging from one side and disconnected from the other one ??

I was trying to know if in a way or another it relates to the integrated graphics for i3 or not, and if it does, does this mean it doesn't make sense whether it works or not since my CPU hasn't got an integrated graphics controller ??

the best name for those I think is just like our mate said, micro-chips or integrated circuits, if I am not mistaken, I had already heard some people calling it like this, but I just forgot the its name.

You know, I can't swear to it completely, but could it be the temperature sensor for the CPU socket? AMD boards used to do something like this where they'd stick a diode right in the open square of the socket so as to try and read the temp.

If anyone here has access to an Intel H55 board we could settle the matter in a few seconds.

no ic-looking chip on backside of p55 board
pull out your graphics card

nope, it's not going to work anyway,

ONLY CLARKDALE CPUs CAN MAKE THE INTEGRATED GRAPHICS OUTLET WORK

otherwise, Lynnfield CPUs has nothing to do with the built-in graphics outlet.

because Lynnfield CPUs haven't got an integrated graphics controller built-in inside the chip itself, while Clarkdale ones do have.

I wouldn't be too sure about this. It could have something to do with the voltage regulation of the CPU, for instance. If it is damaged your CPU might be getting too much voltage - which could fry it over time. I don't know, obviously, these are just wild guesses. But even though your computer seems to work there might be something that's wrong. Since you're not able to overclock either, that's a good sign that things aren't quite as they should be.

The reason why it was hanging is probably just a bad soldering job from the factory, combined with some rough handling.

I'm searching for more info online, but this might be a tough job. I'd just solder it back on if it was mine, as long as the pins aren't too small to do it with hand tools.
