Thread Starter
my friend is looking to build a gaming pc with a price range of around $800. Here's what I have so far:

Case: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119233

Mobo: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157271

GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102908

Power supply: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139005

CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819115072

RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231314

HD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822136795
he would like some longevity in the build, but I realize that is difficult with a price range of only $800. Please let me know what you think. Thanks!

With the build UltraHoboLord provided, longuevity will be asured. He'll keep his PC nice and fast without having to pay any attention to it for at least five years.

PC Part Picker builds look nice and all but I highly doubt OP is near a MC, if he goes 3570k I'm sure it's costing him $230-$240.

Also, keep the HAF 912, I do like the 6950 Hobo has there, It's alot beefier than the 6850 and worth paying the extra bit for, not to mention it's vram.

What res is your buddy going to be playing at? and games?

My only issue i have is with the rosewill psu, the reviews arent nearly as good as a corsair. Does anyone have experience with a rosewill PSU?

JAGZ

He plays LoL,sc2,D3,skyrim, and hes at lower than 1080p, not sure 1680x1050 i think.

He wants to stick with the HAF case also.

Ok, a 6850 will be fine, but Skyrim will push it. I'd still consider the 6950 if it can fit in budget nicely.

Today Rosewill PSU's are very good, The Capstone series is great, Rosewill Green and Rosewill HIVE are ok/decent

For a single GPU I would go with the PC P&C Silencer MKIII 500 for $68 after promo / $48 after MIR.

The PC P&C Silencer MK II is better, $93.50 after promo, and $73.50 after MIR. It's also 750w, and even 2 6950's and OC's all around, it's still a little on the large side in terms of needed wattage.

Consider the Capstone 450 if the system is SB/IVY + 6850.

Why must everyone choose western digital caviar black? Caviar green is pretty much the exact same thing and tons cheaper.

no they are not the same.... Im sure someone else on OCN can explain this to u but i know for a fact they are not the same cuz if caviar blacks and greens are the same but the green is cheaper (which means its also cheaper to manufacture) then y would Western Digital spend extra money manufacturing a caviar black and blue??? If there wasnt a difference im sure western digital would have thought of that and would have stopped manufacturing Caviar Black and Blues.

Not exactly trying to argue here even if I did word it that way above. I am just merely stating what I believe!
