You may need to up your core volts a little. on your current overclock

Its best to start off with a x19 multiplier. It may be labeled in your Bios as CPU ratio setting. Your QPI/DRam voltage should be fine as it is, set your CPUPLL voltage to 1.88,

If you get a blue screen again, after restarting windows see what the BCcode is and cross reference it to the code list.

Ok, when I up my BCLK it automatically ups my DRAM frequency. My ram is rated at 1333 so how can I up my BCLK if my RAM keeps going up? I notice that when my RAM goes above the rated frequency, I get BSOD...so would it be OK to set it to AUTO or manually set it to anything below 1333?

For now, lower the DRAM multiplier so DRAM frequency is at or below 1333 mhz. Once your CPU is stable, you can see about rasing QPI voltage or tweaking the timings to get your RAM at a higher frequency. Overclock one thing at a time, it's harder to pinpoint what's failing otherwise.

Alright, thank you all for the info. I have tweaked a few things and got Window's to boot. I am running Prime95 (10 mins so far) with the following settings:

3.6Ghz (Temps fluctuating between 75-82 @ 100% load)
DRAM - Auto
VCore - 1.30
PLL - 1.88
Multi - 21
BCLK - 175
QPI - 1.25

I'll update as things progress. Also, are my temps alright for my settings? I believe 3.6 is fast enough for me and for every day use....what do you guys think? Again, thank you all very much for your help as this can be a little overwhelming for a new overclocker thumb.gif

Update: Same settings ran P95 for `5 hours now with max load (100%) temps hitting 82, lows hitting 71. I figured that 5 hours was good enough stability test as I only use this computer for WoW / document editing / light PS work / web surfing. Sitting idle my temps rang from 33-39.

Any other suggestions or recommendations? I am quite happy with the OC unless someone believes I should be testing something else? My memory in CPU-Z is only running at 1050Mhz on 8-8-8-24....would I see any increase in performance if I took the ram any higher? Would it be worth it considering what I do with my computer?

Again, thank you all very much for your help it is greatly appreciated.

Well, you can always try to overclock a bit further.tongue.gif
If you're happy with it though, see if you can lower voltages slightly without losing stability. You might be able to get slightly better temps. Try testing with CPU PLL at 1.8; I know a lot of people run this at 1.88 but you might not need it. I keep it at 1.8 and I'm running my 920 at 19*220.8 with no problems, it's a different stepping from yours (D0) but it never hurts to try.
As for RAM, you could try a higher multiplier but you may need to loosen timings a bit to get it stable. In all honesty you probably won't see any performance difference outside benchmarks though. If you don't want to spend too much time squeezing every last ounce of performance out of your system and just want to use it, just leave it as it is. Like I said, you won't really see the difference anyway.
I would suggest running stress tests for longer than 5 hours though, to ensure maximum stability. I've had my system fail 17 hours into P95.

My PLL AUTO set is 1.8 so should I manually set it to 1.8 or put it on AUTO?

I really have no plans of OC'ing my RAM as I do no benchmarks whatsoever and have no plans to do so. I do love getting a great deal of performance out of my system but the benefits of OC'ing the RAM are not worth the cost in my honest opinion.

As far as testing goes, I've seen mixed opinions from both the overclocking and benchmarking communities. Some say that if I plan to fold then I need to stress test for at least 24 hours, I have no plans of folding on this rig. In the near future I will be building a F@H rig so got that covered. Others have said that I need to stress test for around 10-12 hours for everyday use. Still, others have told me that they stress test for an hour max and they have yet to have a system fail. Maybe this weekend I will give Prime95 about 12 hours to test and then let IBT run for about 20 passes.

Thank you all very much for your help as it has been invaluable. +1 to everyone that helped.

I'd manually set it to 1.8. I'm not sure if leaving it on auto would cause your motherboard to set it higher like it would with Vcore for instance, but I prefer making sure I get no surprises so I set most of my voltages to the minimum value and work up from there if the system isn't stable.
The thing with Prime95 is, it takes quite a bit of time for it to run all tests, more than 12 hours. If you don't do anything too intense on your pc it may very well seem stable enough for your everyday tasks, personally I just don't want to run the risk of my system crashing when I'm recording something for instance, so my standard stability test consists of 24 hours of prime95, 25 full memory passes of IBT and 1000% pass on HCI memtest, as a minimum. Some consider this overkill, some consider this a rather light stress test and don't consider their system stable until at least 250 IBT passes. Honestly just do what you feel comfortable with; if it works for you, it works. If you don't have a backup system running these tests one after another can be a drag, and there isn't really anything wrong with running these tests overnight and just using your pc for whatever you want; if something does go wrong you can always tweak your settings then.

After giving it some thought, I think I'll set P95 to run when I go to bed tonight and then do a few passes (100?) on IBT tomorrow because I have nothing else to do. So far everything is running stable and I have loaded up all of my games / programs and ran them for at least an hour to make sure nothing happens. But just to make doubly sure I'll do some more stress testing.

Thanks again for everything Vonnis, it is very nice to have input from other members who have been there thumb.gif
