Help! Internet keeps getting disconnected!

Alright,

So this weekend me and 4 buddies decided to do our monthly lan party and play Diablo 3. Everything was going just great, no lag, no disconnecting, nothing. Well more towards the end of the night we noticed very high ping, and then we were continuously getting disconnected from the internet.

Today everything seemed to be fine, so while me and just one buddy were playing games I decided to download the League of Legends client onto a new desktop I built. Well, here is when the same problem started all over again. I was continuously watching my router flash red and then go back to green. Internet was going on and off. It was almost like it was out of bandwidth.

This is very weird because it is very normal for me to have sometimes 4 people over downloading clients or playing at the same time. Never had this problem before.

Does anyone know what could be going on here? I'm pretty clueless when it comes to these sorts of things. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

*Note* Everything seems fine until I start downloading something. I just tried to download the LoL client again and I can't even surf the web without the internet going out. Weird stuff.

- I have tried to restart the modem/router
- My provider is ATT
- My modem/router was provided by ATT

Anyone? Maybe the router/modem?

Try a different router, borrow one from a friend if you can. The cheap ones that providers give you usually aren't capable of more than a few clients at once. I had an old d-link modem/router that would do a similar thing, we upgraded to a good quality netgear one and haven't had any problems since.

Thats what I was thinking. Its just weird that it decides to do this now after years of having 5+ people on at once.
