Will 380 Earthwatts PS be good enough?

Thread Starter
Hi all,

Just wondering if the Antec 380 Earthwatts Power Supply will be good enough for my build.

The supply comes with the case I want to get, the NSK3480, so I may need to replace the supply in the case or buy another one for this setup.

(Link to case and PS: [=http://store.antec.com/Product/enclosure-new_solution_series/nsk3480/0-761345-93480-0.aspx][/] )

My components:

CPU: Intel Core i7-2700k 3.5 GHz Quadruple core
GPU: AMD Radeon HD 6850 1GB
MoBo: ASUS Maximus Gene-Z/Gen3
DVD: Lite-On LightScribe 24X SATA DVD+/-RW Dual Layer Drive IHAS424-98
RAM: Corsair 4GB Vengence Blue Low Profile 1600 MHz Dual-Channel DDR3 x4
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB 7200 rpm
OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit
CPU Cooler: Corsair H60 Liquid Cooler
Other Fans: Nexus Real Silent 92mm case fan x2

I'm a little worried about the Power consumption on this setup for the 380 Earthwatts PS, even though I've heard it can handle a lot.

Thank you for your suggestions.

380watt? never. The case is ugly as well, why would buy all the expensive stuff and then such garbage case with 380watt psu?

I'm pretty sure you'll be fine here. Just leave the cpu stock and a mild OC on your gpu.

380watts, just fine? Good luck risking everything you got.

yep, he should be fine. 6850 cannot draw more then 150W, probably much less, and 2500K is like 85W? The rest of the system cannot draw more then 100W.
So a real 380W is enough.

This. Most people grossly overestimate the amount of power they need.

Plenty, and the EA-380D is a very solid unit.

ps. I would suggest you go for an unlocked I5 and a higher end VGA, a 7850 maybe... a better cooler too, the H60 offers terrible value.

I was going for a simple look, so the antec appealed to me. Or If not I could go with the Silverstone TJ08-E , which also has a nice look, and the Corsair GS500 PS

Thank you all for your comments

Yes it is enough for like a balls to the walls kinda thing, but remember, your going to really be stressing that PSU under load, meaning not only are you going to get a shorter life out of it, you are also going to get the worst efficiency level out of that PSU, if I were you, I would pick up an Earthwatts EA500 or some other quality 500W unit, because first it gives you room to overclock, second, room for upgrades, third, better efficiency, fourth, better reliability, and finally fifth, it could be recycled and used in a future build it it survives this one,
