Two sticks of Team DDR2 died simultaneously?

I gave a pc to someone months ago. He just brought it back . He turned it off one night. The next day it would not start.

It's an EP45-Extreme mobo. The RAM was Team Xtreem DDR2 800 2 x 1GB 4-4-4-10 (TXDD1024M800HC4 2.0v - 2.2v) E7400 processor and Galaxy 9800GTX GFX. Testing the ram in two other mobos proved to me that neither stick works anymore.

The RAM is not the only problem. Finally got the mobo to boot with a 1GB stick of Transcend, in Optimised Defaults, but it loads extraordinarily slowly and cannot complete an sfc /scannow or checkdsk or antivurus scan without freezing or doing a 1A Bluescreen. Would freeze in screensaver too.

Hard Drives and GFX check out OK in my X48.

Anyone else encountered anything like this? Did you isolate the cause? I'll try another PSU, but I'm thinking mobo.

Almost sounds like an overnight power surge. Have you tried a different CPU in the MoBo, and the Current CPU in a different MoBo to see if you are getting any of the same results. If the QPI was overvolted from a surge there goes your RAM, and if the overvoltage got that far, it probably took the MCH on the Mobo with it. One saving grace is that the MCH is not on the CPU die on p45 so the CPU may be saved. See attached Pic

It lived again with new ram and new psu. Seems like it might have been a PSU problem, though I cannot be entirely sure. Waiting to see if it continues working or gives more problems.

the team extreme ram you had in it is micron D9 chips, they don't last forever when voltage is pushed over 2.0v, and even worse when you toss a faulty psu into the mix causing electrical ripple.
you could try freezing them.
