just wondering if its worth me installing a linux distro on my old e2160 dual core rig? geforce 7050/620i onbard graphics, and folding on it just for chimp challenge?
also what sort of ppd would i see form it?
i get approx 35K on my sig but thats a whole world apart from the old core2duo pentium smile.gif

I think your only looking at a few thousand PPD if its a later C2D. My laptop has one and gets 1 or 2 thousand I think. Linux would help as there is less BS running slowing the CPU down.

Windows overhead on the e2160 is going to be quite heavy. You will see some improvements if installed a lightweight linux distro like CLI debian (or fluxbox on it if you must have a GUI).

If thats too much trouble I say fold on it the way it is along with that GT 220 biggrin.gif

i dont know why tho ?? maybe ill fold on that instead its got an i3 2100 smile.gif that would way out do an e2160
would it being wireless affect my PPD tho? does it have to be a wired connection?

Yep! i3 2100 + GT 220 will way outdo e2160.

If I were you I would've fired up all of them. Right now Im folding on a T6600, P7570, 9600GSO, GTX 580 & i7 2600K. Only for Chimp Challenge smile.gif
