[VC] NVIDIA To Recall all GeForce GTX 600 Series Cards - Page 10

Sounds plausible.
This card was rushed, has bad yields and is very aggressively clocked, and has features that push the performance envelope even further and more frequently.
I certainly hope it isn't true, but perhaps this is what nV needs. They mislead their customers, and I still feel certain aspects of this lineup were engineered to mislead customers about actual performance.
If true, I can't feel any sympathy for the company. Unfortunately this will allow AMD to even further inflate prices in the future.

I'm skeptical of this rumor; stock prices haven't been influenced and no other sources are corroborating it.

Still, not ruling anything out yet.

Intel is a much bigger company and the P67 was a much smaller portion of their lineup than Kepler is for NVIDIA.

Most people probably wouldn't, even if there is a problem.

The GTX 4xx line didn't have any blatant defects. Yes, the 480 ran hot and the 470 had a fairly poor VRM, but the cards worked and there were no mass failures or degradation.

I hardly believe it as the source is too poor.
Also I don't see how Nvidia cheated their customers with the GK104?
Anyone who know little things about GPUs should know that the 4 stands for a mid-range chip. people are getting pissed off at Nvidia, ignoring their lack of research before buying.
Actually I find Nvidia quite honest and they did it in a pretty ethical way, they were able to rename it to GK100 and released it if they wanted to cheat their customers.

This. If true, people will get over it just like they did with Sandy Bridge.

Well, I have nothing to say about this rumor, time will tell.

But that doesn't mean all is not well on the green side. It is quite apparent to me Nvidia has major issues with GK104. Yields ARE terrible. TSMC is not at fault. One week after 670 launch and there is 1 out of 26 600 series in stock, and yesterday there was zero available. According to SA, they may have to do a whole retapping, which will take 2 quarters at least. And we all know Charlie has good info from TSMC. Don't discredit this, just sayin'.
