Yes. Or 2 good 600+ Watt PSU's.

As of now, this is the only PSU that can handle two 8800GTXs in SLI:

I find that very hard to believe. Of course you will need a great power supply, but I strongly feel that an 850W would get the job done. I mean, the cards MAY use 300W but I would really doubt it.

I mean, you can run 2 X1900XTs and dual core overclocked up the wazoo and not need anywhere near 1000W of power. I know the 8800s use a good deal more power, but I think as soon as release hits, we will see that the power requirements havn't jumped to require AT LEAST 1000W.

The key here is the 4 PCIe connectors.

But in the same respect, I see that as a "well, we may want to add some power just in case we need it". After all, you may need it for when you peak, but I cannot see it needing it all the time. But claiming the sky is falling and that we should all trade our power supplies in for nuclear reactors is not really called for in my opinion. But hey, I could be dead wrong in 10 days after release. *shrug*

So much power! Graphics cards are getting more power hungry where as processor are getting less, why?

The reason is that most high wattage PSUs are multi-rail, and dont have enough amperage availible on the GPU rail(s). PC Power & Cooling has eliminated this issue by combining all the 12V rails into one massive 72A rail.

Hrnygoat is right, that is the only PSU on the market right now that can handle SLIed G80s, unless you want to go with 2 PSUS.

None of the other 1000w PSUs can handle them, they don't have enough amps on the 12v. (And i'm not spending 550$ for a PSU..)

Glad to see they don't require watercooling.
