Yeah, I suspected it may have been a little worn. I'd had it for 3 years and like I said, it was of the higher watt variety.. I hear those don't O/C well..

Ah, that might be some of it then. No doubt that 3570 is a beast and responsible for a big bunch of horsepower. I have to admit I would love to go with a Z77 Sabertooth and 3570 but I just can't justify the $500 it would cost to switch over. After owning a Sabertooth, I can't go back to anything less so Ill have to hold out with AMD for a while longer. wink.gif

Your 965 was probably a C2. Also did you overclock the CPU-NB? No? Well... there's most of your gain with an AMD CPU. There's an article testing it with a Ph.II X6 on Tom's, I think.

Anyway, I recall that with an X6 1055T, 2.6GHz CPU-NB and 3.6GHz on the cores beat 2GHz CPU-NB and 4GHz on the cores.

If you still have your AMD gear, give it a try. I run my 955 at 4GHz with 2.8GHz CPU-NB. Still flies through everything.

Sure anything recent from intel might beat it, but even a 2500K is still $225 in AU.

I recently went from a 4.1ghz phenom 2 under water to a 5.1ghz 2700k under water, and the difference is... noticable tongue.gif

now if only i could replace that 285.....

Over the past few years ive gone from a 965BE to a 1090T to an Athlon 255 to an Athlon 640 to my current i7 2600k, and without a doubt, Intel is substantially faster.
AMD just doesnt have the Integer performance to feed a high end video card, even one of their own design.

Totally agree. I used Crysis 2 as a test bed cause I was holding a frame rate average in the low to mid 40's at max settings but my minimum framerates were dropping into the 20's during busy scenes. I bumped my NB from 2GHz up to 3GHz and I now get average frame rates in the low 50's and my minimum frame rates stay in the 30's. Phenoms are a completely different CPU when the NB is bumped.
