Buying/selling.

Does a Windows key just become attached to whatever system it gets installed on?

What about buying something like this online:

that looks like an OEM disk. OEM is "locked" to the first motherboard it is installed on.
If the key has not been used, no problem.
Problem is you have to take their word it has not been used.

I wouldn't buy that. All the genuine Win 7 disks I have seen look way different than that. They usually have holographic windows logos all the way around the edge. Theres TONS of fake windows 7 disks on ebay, craigslist, ect... I would suggest buying from newegg or a similar big name company to avoid problems.

Plus I think it's against the EULA to resell the OEM keys.

I have a retail copy that I could give to a friend for about $150. He is not very adventurous and won't touch anything but retail.

I figure that some money can be saved if I find an OEM or something. But I didn't know OEM could not be re-installed or put onto a new system... did not used to be that way.
