Anyway , bad marketing from DICE , they should have said W7 because microsoft basically shot themselves in the foottook a machine gun burst to the foot by not releasing a dedicated OS for the PC.

I lol'd, I use both win 7 and win 8, like them both but win 8 is not huge improvement, not enough for 100+ dollars

No way games would use 4+ GB of Ram..... I might need an upgrade and switch over to Linux x64
Also, 64-bit requirement would cut computer gamers buy a huge amount, especially the ones that use OEM computers to game.

Actually, without LAA, a single process can only use up to 2GB in 32bit. Sins of a Solar Empire (Released in 2008 and only uses 1 core) hit that limit quite easily. Skyrim, etc also go past it very easily.

Haha...great time to upgrade to Windows 8? Sounds like a spokes person for Microsoft. I wonder how much kick back he is making.

windows 8 should have been windows 7 without 32bit tongue.gif
You really dont get it do you. Coding in 32 bit extensions can only be more optimized wink.gif

Lol @ uberjon. Seriously 32-bit integers have been causing all our PC games to be console ports?

Has nothing to do with the quality of our games, if that were the case we should be pushing 512-bit operating systems so we can see the matrix. Think before you speak... err type.

Only reason they said this is marketing. There are even work arounds to 32-bit integer memory address can be patched to utilize more than 2^32 bits of memory.

Just converting every int32 to 64 will increase the "load" in memory exponentially. Even if it is only storing the number like 3 and 4.

You an I both know, that 32-bit work around exists for mapping memory. You also know that a video game does not "need" a 64-bit OS.

Developer is lazy.

Sure, but considering nearly every new computer has a 64bit OS (The majority, anyway) there's not really much reason to stick with 32bit.

Upgrading for the sake of upgrading so to speak, but its my opinion. I am not going to lie and say the architecture isn't newer, and probably more efficient than older less improved upon x86, but I believe the core reason is so they don't have to be as efficient with memory.
