Card for 120hz - 2560x1440 Monitor

Thread Starter
I'm getting ready to build my rig and I've decided on getting the Yamasaki Catleap and overclock it to 120hz (once I get the OC-able version)

I was wondering, what card would I need for it? GTX 670 or 680?

I'd get the 680 but I have one question, how do you "overclock" a monitors refresh rate to 120hz? Or do you mean like unlock the 120hz option if that's even possible.

670 is basically a 680 with disabled cores but when you over clock it becomes a GTX 680 and can go beyond. If you get a 680 its just for the bragging rights right now smile.gif

The Yamasaki Catleap Q270 is capable of being overclocked to higher refresh rates due to it's board. We are not allowed to talk about it here because of reasons, but you can "search" it up.

For 120 fps at that resolution, you'll need 2 680s.
But that of course depends on the game.

Seems pricey rolleyes.gif
I'm guessing a 690 would be perfect then?
If I can't find a 690 sometime in the near future, I'll just buy one 680 and then another 680 when I have the cash biggrin.gif
