Disk failure?

Thread Starter
Hello,

can I do something about this?

ZuJuz.png

Basicly, I started watching a movie from this disk and my video player would suddenly froze. Anything I try to play from this HDD is now acting weird - either choppy, long loading or wont play at all.+

Be damned WD Green! I should have stick with SGs.

sounds like at this stage all you can do is get what you can off the drive, even if it takes all day or longer just keep trying.. if the data you cant retrieve is really worth it you might have to pay the professionals to do it but thats costly..

Just for the record, I've been using 2 Seagate storage disks for 5 years now and didn't have a single problem with them. This WD Green is dead after only 2 years.

I went from WD blues to Seagate because the WDs developed bad sectors after 1 year of light use, the Seagates are running strong and never loocked back. I firmly believe the WD blues and greens are very low quality units, while the blacks and etnerprises are the top quality ones.

Try linux, it's usually better at handling dying disks. Just boot from an ubuntu live cd.
