Just pre-ordered my MVF on BLT. Free shipping and no sales tax, too. Screw waiting for Amazon and Newegg. biggrin.gif

What is the big differences between M5F and M5E looking to over clock 4.8, 4.9. May be 5.0 if I can hit it on my new sandy bridge i7 2700K CPU. Was going to get the M4E-Z but seeing the M5F is $287.00 it doesn’t make sense to buy it now. I won’t use more than 2 graphics cards most likey. I won't upgrade for another 3-5 years after this if I do it will just be the CPU IB.

Differences (from what I can see):

Just got an e-mail from BLT about my preorder.

It says on their product page that product ETA should be about 15 business days. Real-time stock update, too (at -1 right at the moment LOL).

Here's the link to the product page (if some of you can't stand to wait for Tier 1 retailers wheee.gif): http://www.shopblt.com/item/asus-maximus-v-formula-r.o.g.maximus-lga1155-3xpcie3.0-2.0/asus_maximusvformulah.html

You can hit 4.8-5.0 on any of the Maximus V boards before before hitting any board limitiations on OC. No guarantee the chip can do it, but the board can. I currently have my 2550K at 5.0 on an MVG.

Lol. Replied to you on the ROG forums.

Like I said... it's all up to you. Anyway, Sandy is the better overclocker of the two, but the 3770K will get the most out of the Z77 chipset.

I myself am tempted to switch out my 2600K for either a 3770K (not worth the extra $100 for one) or a 3570K (won't have to spend any more money. really tempting... I disable the cores anyway when I OC). I won't be upgrading for the next 4-5 years, anyway, so I kinda want to maximise my rig's potential. But, I'm just paranoid about the temp issues with Ivy Bridge. Is it that bad?

Thoughts?
