The look of the game is visually pleasing. Graphics are somewhat dated, but functional and integral to the story of Diablo. You can't take a game that is designed the way it is and change the graphic styling to something completely different. You can only improve it and modernize it, and in that respect, I think they have done a faithful job. The Diablo series is an isometric top down ARPG. What type of graphics do the people who are complaining want or expect ?
Game too easy as far as builds go.....could you give me some of those builds biggrin.gif
I personally find it to be a challenging game, not too easy, not too difficult. Granted I am going through as a Barb on my own in A3 NM for now with decent gear, mainly because my party decided to F me over and go through without me while I was on my anniversary vacation, but that is off topic.
It is a worthy successor to Diablo 2. To say that it is BETTER than D2 is very hard to do for me at this point, considering I have had the game for ONE WEEK. I played Diablo 2 for close to 10 years. That game sucked my time and life away like nothing else has. So far, Diablo 3 has done that to a point, however I must admit, that with numerous connection issues, and D/Cs within the first few days, it really took me out of my gaming groove and turned annoying quickly.
To put D3 in its class, at this juncture is absurd FOR ME. Give me more time with it, and I think that it will get close. The game is a good game, and if glitches/ exploits/ connection issues are fixed in timely manners and we see a kick ass expansion 2 years down the line, then it very well could go on to surpassing Diablo 2.
To those individuals who say that it is better in every way than D2, I disagree with that statement. It is not to say THEY are wrong, I just personally disagree. IT COULD BE better, I just do not think it is there yet.
The always online thing is becoming more of an annoyance than I initially expected. Tolerable but if connection issues occur, it becomes unplayable.
I personally can do without both Auction Houses. I also could lose the Achievements. Those are unnecessary to the game in my opinion. Not bad, just not needed.
Just my opinions.

again i agree with this, and by builds i was referring to a couple posts i read and my friend rollin a wiz sayin how easy it was to farm before nerf? again i dont play but he was going nuts about this, and by it being easier i mean, they take your stat point allocation and skill tree design away, to make way for those "hi i am new to rpgs and what is this" people, not that i have a problem with them, but maybe make a hybrid system that lets you swap between automatic and manual?

and i think this guy summed up my feelings the best tbh on the d3 forums

"Sneakeh
85 Undead Rogue
ClanDropBears
2840

D2 was good.
D3 is good, just different."

also my friend finds the game easy, and that's saying a lot, cuz he gets lost in any old school rpg, or any rpg that actually requires you to think a bit, but again 98% of all of this is based on opinion, so to each his own, i just think calling this a successor AT THIS MOMENT is a bad call, my 2 cents

As do I. I have no idea why you wasted your money on Diablo 3. If there is one thing we've learned in gaming the past year or two its that the bigger the hype is the bigger the fall it will be.

So lets just get this straight. The game has been out for 5 days and literally 2/5 of the time the game has not been available to its customers. Wow.. Blizzard really learned from ubisoft how to screw up something good with DRM

Torchlight 2 Brother.. Torchlight 2.

Torchlight 2 on Steam 20 bucks.. You can get a 4 pack for you and your friends for the price of diablo.

i paid $60 bucks to enjoy a game that i PAID for and i cant even do that.
I dont PvP and dont plan to use the AH.
so why can't i just enjoy the freaking game that i paid for?????
so damn angry over this launch.
Nah, don't waste your time. Go pick up an Xbox or PS2 and get The Baldurs Gate: dark alliance and Champions of Norrath Series. Much better Hack N slash than D3.

We did warn you. BTW .. I stopped supporting Blizzard when it was announced that WARCRAFT NOT DIABLO was going to be the setting of the MMO. I knew they were going to hell, proverbially not literally, when they did that.

why is it, everyone agrees with OP, or at least the real fans do.
and here, i can't find d2, but here is d1 for now, seriously,
i have not seen anyone assume so badly as you on all of OCN i think, i am not trying to tell you, you are wrong in your thinking, i just wanted to know WHY you think the COMMON answer, is less correct, i am in no way saying, if you play this you are x or y, i am just stating things as i see them, and preferably if it´s a general consensus, so that people are informed and can make THEIR OWN informed decisions, that´s what the beginning of this post was, to inform people of risks they can take countermeasures to prevent.
this sounds more sensible to me than "D3 IS EXACTLY WHAT D2 FANS WANTED"

I could post my pictures of D1 and D2 but its pointless. Look man.. You knew as hyped as this game was.. YOU KNEW that no one from the original Blizzard North team was in on the development. YOU KNEW this was nothing more than a cash grab using a name. Why the hell did you buy it? Do yourself a favor man. Get on steam.. (Or just go to the website for the game if you dont like steam) buy torchlight 2. And forget that Diablo 3 happened. The series ended with Diablo 2. Just accept it and move on. And dont ever give activision/blizzard your money again.

its 7am, and i am going to bed,(for real this time) good luck to all those of you that own this game and are awaiting patches or fixes or just want better ping and service. thumb.gif i myself will be playing other similar games, but that appeal to me more in the overall category.
i will have to make a mental note that i am apparently crazy, for demanding that companies give us more for our money, because apparently it´s crazy or something, but anyways, to each his own
and remember CONTINUE FOLDING!

BTW

UM..i was defending torchlight, reckoning, and other games, i do not own d3 and probably never will unless it is GIVEN to me, if you read throughout this thread, you will see i gave up on blizz xD, i was the guy "fighting" the d3 fans(?),but thanks for the advice anyway? and yeah i knew since the original guys left, it would be downhill, same thing i learned after BC for WoW,but anywho, later all

Cytrik I can appreciate where you are coming from.

The quote you mentioned is a very accurate one. Both games are good, but "feel" different in certain aspects.

The game is good. As Axon14 mentioned, it does feel short, particularly in Act 4. I personally would have liked the acts to be about double in size and quests, but that is just me. Of course that would have meant waiting another 4-5 years. tongue.gif

As for difficulty, since I am soloing, it may be different. Maybe different classes are different levels of ease, and maybe I have just not figured out the optimal skill set as of yet. I satrted a Barb, assuming I would be part of a 4 man party, not soloing through by myself. If I was soloing I would have made a DH. O wells. The difficulty does ramp up a bit from normal to NM, and I know that Hell and Inferno are MUCH harder. I don't know what difficulty or class your friend is playing on, so I can't give an accurate assesment.

I just want to know why Blizzard is heralding the security power of their authenticator (which i've used since it first came out in my WoW days), when Diablo 3 has only asked for my authenticator code ONCE, when I logged in for the first time.

I assure you that they "get it" that gamers want LAN. They just don't care due to legitimate reasons of their own.

That's a new feature. If you login from the same IP, it stops asking you for the authenticator code. If you suddenly log in from another state or IP, it will request it again.
