Can we send this back to the companies? Was there a recall that I didn't hear about? The Graphics card is only 2 years old so I'd think the recall would still be good since that isn't that old since I still max games out.

Funny you should mention this I have been having this problem with my dual MSI 470's lately. Until today I was blue screened, may have been an unrelated issue but I havent been happy with my gpu's as of late.

Only "random black screen" things I have ever noticed on my old 480s were from driver issues and unstable overclocks.... after getting the right drivers and stable clocks, never had an issue.

I think there's a problem with some 400 series and Nvidia kept HUSH,HUSH about it. Maybe another class-action lawsuit against Nvidia? That or Windows 7 is really a cruddy operating system that doesn't get along with certain hardware combinations.

When I had a 480 I never had any issues. I also had my card on a fan temp profile so it stayed pretty cool. Maybe your problem is related to cooling?

Huh! I haven't had any black screen problems with my used (from OCN member) 460 gtx either. Strange; I'll check out your other thread with possible solutions if mine begins acting up, though!

the only time i get "black screens" from my 470's is when i get the kernel mode driver crashing on the newer drivers. Running older drivers eliminates the crashes, and aside from missing 1-2 sli profiles, all is well.

It's true, I have an EVGA GTX 465 that is plagued by the issue. I have found my card's particular issue seems to when it changes power modes, so I just edited the bios so it's running full power all the time, horribly inefficient, but it's just a back up card at this point.

My two EVGA GTX 480's, and other various 470's I've owned were not plagued by the issue, so it's also pretty hit, or miss.

There is a rather long thread over in the gtx 400's series section of the evga forums if you want to read up on possibly solutions, but generally the only real solution is to RMA, or replace the card.

I think I had that problem a while back, it's gone now though so I must have updated the bios on my cards to one without problems or fixed it in some other way. I did change from an Asus 1.2V bios to an EVGA one I think so maybe it was that. Sorry, I've changed drivers and bioses on my cards a lot so I can't remember. There's also the possibility that it was my i3 540 and H55m-D2H causing it but I don't remember.
I do remember looking it up and it seemed like x58 setups were more likely to have problems than others, that's about all I remember of it though.

Bear in mind that if you're overclocking the overcurrent protection can cause black screens too. If your card black-screens at stock clearly it isn't caused by OCing but if you are running an overclocked card and persistently getting black screens you should try it at stock for a while just in case.

I'm running the newest drivers before version 300 and haven't had problems when folding or running BF3.

Edit: The post above me rings a bell, I might have changed my power-mode settings and I definitely remember coming close to doing it because that was causing the problem.
