BSOD's and APPCRASH's left and right. Software or hardware?

Barracuda 500GB
Corsair 2x2GB 1333

After I finally got Windows to install (wasn't on ACHI mode...) I Tried to hook up my old drives with a controller card. PC didn't like it, didn't work. Then problems and BSOD left and right.

We reset the CMOS and reinstalled. Everything was good. Played CoD4 and it was fine.

Turn it on yesterday, fine. Play cod4, fine. Go on the Internet, and it starts crashing everytime I do anything. (it said APPCRASH). I restarted the computer and then it was fine.

Now I dont remember what I was doing, but bam! BSOD.
I restarted, fine.

Online I found someone having the exact same issue with Norton. I uninstalled mine and it was fine. Left it on a few hours and come back to a BSOD with a 0x0000007E code.

It said something about video drivers, before there was one with video memory.

I also seem to be getting alot of 0x00000024 ones today. I think that is HDD related, but it formatted fine in XP (proves it good) and passed 2 chkdsks. I can't get the exact number code since it dumps the memory and then restarts. It ranges from filled up with numbers and letters to all 0's except for a few numbers and letters.

I'm thinking that the 9400GT just won't work for Win7. And also, if the 0x024 code is memory related (like an HDD) couldn't that be anything with memory in it? CPU, GPU, RAM, HDD...

I have also tested the ram and it's good.

Another thing, everything seems to APPCRASH from 1 sec of use all the way to 1hr. The desktop will crash if I leave it for an hour or two. A few hours ago explorer.exe crashed on startup and I had to manually restart.

Please help, I just don't know what to do.

Can you upload a couple minidumps?

First stab with little info is bad ram...try a stick at a time and manually set timings to stock and double check voltage.

There is the dmp files from the most current install.

I was playing some CoD4 and the BSOD and APPCRASH died down, now IE is also running fine.... ***.

I only used the drivers that came on the disk. I'm afraid to update the bios though... Seems to run fine now. What should I do (when it acts up again), I'll just enjoy how good it's working until it acts up again.

Yes, update everything! Then let us know how you get on. 7E and 24 bsod are rather general sods and there isn't too much point looking at dumps if you aren't up to date...if it runs fine for time then bricks again that points to ram, possibly drivers. RAM test is easy so start there. I assume no OC as you are bsodding. Maybe mainboard is trying to run the ram at an OC?

Yeah, I suspected that the timing was an issue a few days ago so I set it to the same speed. It was set under auto and was in the OC section... Better safe than sorry
