Get that bad boy on DiRT! Should be good for ~1.3M PPD.

Just remember that you need a bit of a run up; takes me ~3 days to get to the point where the WUs are valiated as fast as I create them.

Hopefully will have it churning out some points later this week. I tore down my dedicated rig and sold off the CPU and mobo (FX-8120 and Sabertooth 990FX) because I was disappointed with how lousy it performed BOINC tasks. Thank goodness for Craigslist and Micro Center. Putting together a new Sandy Bridge setup to power the 7970. biggrin.gif

Some projects, like DiRT and Collatz, require each work unit to be run by two different computers in order to validate them. The WUs that you get sent will either be fresh or already run.

If they have already been run then when you submit them they will be validated straight away (assuming the results match) and you will get the points.

If they are fresh you have to wait for the another computer to run and validate them before you get the points.

Because of this validation can take anywhere from a few seconds to a few days. Eventually you build up enough "pending" tasks that they validate at the same rate as you produce them. It takes me roughly 3 days to reach this point.

So, if I plan on being in the BGB, should I start ~3 days prior to the start of the event?

Depends on what projects you are running and if you want to get the maximum points or not. There is no real need to do so.

There is no real ned to do so, but if you pick delayed point projects (like DistRT), it is advised to have a headstart to reach your peak PPD during the BGB

I do advise it though. I still have 80-something "pending" WU's... and i don't even run 24/7.
