Really in need of some help here.. Not finding any good documentation on 12.04 as of yet... and struggling my way through things. I'm trying to get some quality temperature monitoring software installed here.. I've tried lm-sensors, i've tried xfce-sensors (though I'm not running a XFCE environment I don't' think, and that's why I can't right click any "panels" and add the temp sensors to it). Now that I have stuff, I can't find any sort of intuitive way to remove it either. I look through the history in the Software Center and sometimes it shows it, sometimes it doesn't. I search through Synaptic and sometimes I find it, sometimes I don't.
All very confusing to me, haha.
So essentially I'm looking to do this:
1. Get some quality temperature monitoring software, as well as something that can read my system specs. I'm thinking similar to a realtemp and a CPU-Z, for example. Doesn't have to be identical or anything like that. I just need some information on the system while it's up in Linux. I don't feel safe with big overclocks and no way to see PC health.
2. I need help getting Folding@home set up... i7-3770k, HT on, clocked at 4.7GHz and a 7970 overclocked to 1300/1700... should be able to fold rather well on this beast and help out team OCN... however, I have no idea hwo to get it working properly. I followed someone's guide, and needless to say, it doesn't load the CPU when I run it... so not sure what I did wrong.
I'm about to reformat and start over again with this Ubuntu, and fresh install it. I've got so much random crap because I've been trying to get things working, and trying to find programs I like, that it feels rather cluttered now. Unless, like I said earlier, there's an easier way to clean up applications that I'm just not seeing. Hopefully something similar to an add/remove programs from windows. That seems to be one thing that Windows absolutely nailed... Add/Remove programs. LOL
Thanks in advance *nix users, appreciate the help!
