MCP35x controlled by NZXT Sentry mix?

Thread Starter
Hey, I just got all my wc parts and I’m building it all as I type. Fun stuff thumb.gif. I got a NZXT sentry mix fan controller and I was wondering if you could mod the MCP35x PWR wire to work with the fan controller. I don't have space for it on my mb as it is currently being used by my D-14 cooler. I did a test run of the pump (yes I had water in there) and it wasn't super loud but it will be a issue to me when it’s in the case.

Any help?
I was thinking of sparing a fan I don’t use and use the connecter from that since the PWR is a 4 pin and not a 3 pin.

first of all, GL and have some fun smile.gif

second, may i ask what PWR is?

as for the connection, since the mix uses voltage control, there shouldnt be an issue as long as all the leads match up.... that said, a PWM controler would probably be a better option if you can find one cheap smile.gif

Thansk! it is fun. Lot of work lol. yea sorry PWM. I will look for a PWN controller if i can make it work. how would i wire that? moving the wires from 4 to 3 is easy but idk where it goes. The wires are blue and green. Im guessing the blue is ground and green is the power control

you plug it in just like normal, but with one of the non-power wires hanging off teh plug (i think its the blue on those if memory serves)... just make sure that the standard ones are getting pluged in smile.gif... as for the contorler... they are all over (some even with speed read outs... witch is what that last wire is for)... Swifttech has a decently priced one that is prity grate in how it works (though it isnt the pritiest)... that is what i would look at, but it may be a bit of over kill since you already have a mix... i would start another thread her asking about them tbh... thats where you will get the best advice smile.gif... GL with you build smile.gif

sweet. yea the power is plugged into a molex connector and then a second wire coming from the pump is the 4 pin with blue and green. So i can just move that over to the 3 pin and should work. i hope.

im sry... i miss understood... the molex is what gines it power... i was thinking that eveything was on teh 4-pin... it may work, but may not... if i had to guess it wont because the controler is voltage, not PWM, but you can give it a try... the worst that should happen is that it doesnt work, and the pump just runs full boor... and make sure that the two places without wires go where the power wires should go smile.gif

1 GND Ground black
2 +12V Fan Power yellow
3 SIGNAL Fan RPM green
4 PWM Digital Control blue

sorry if i didn't explain that but what they did was took the ground and yellow and fitted it to the molex and left the green and blue in the 4 pin. There has got to be a way lol. where is those wiring guru's when you need them!

kk... makes more sence now.. unfortunately, i dont see how it will work without a molex to PWM converter... they are prity easy to make with some spare parts and a soldering iron, but that only if you have the time (and the parts)... i would look into a simple converter or something... unfortunately, voltage control wont work until you do that... hope this helped

its actualy prity easy smile.gif... take a leftover molex, and a spare 3-pin (obviously the correct genders for the job) and solder their red and black wire together (you can look at the mix manual to se witch of the 3-pin will be ground and witch will be voltage)... then just make sure to insulate teh joints, and you should be all good

also, just as a note... i find it good practice to step the joints so they are even less likely to make contact (even though u insulate them with heat shrink or electrical tape, or something smile.gif)
