According to gameranking the best game for PC this year bioshock inifinite and that was boring at best, all the other pc games are just ****.
PC exclusive? Seeing as how you didn't list one, I'll name great games that either are PC exclusive, or might as well be exclusive on PC due to mods: Skyrim, ArmA 3 which is still in beta, Project C.A.R.S. which is still in alpha, Cry of Fear, Natural Selection 2, F1 2012, RaceRoom Racing Experience, Anna: Extended Edition, Red Orchestra 2, Rising Storm, Dragon Age 2, and The Witcher 2 come to mind first. This is also excluding some full conversion mods that exceed the quality and scope of lots of AAA games, such as Underhell, No More Room in Hell, and Black Mesa.
But pretty much any multiplatform game is much better on PC, and why limit yourself to such recent games? The games I play most often vary from 2007 to 2012.
Unless you're into sports games, family games, JRPGs, and/or Nintendo's games (since they have such a different fanbase altogether), I see no reason to get a console, unless you just want to play every single game out there. Putting aside how inferior they are for multiplayer and multiplatform games, their exclusives are just so dumbed down, don't really offer anything unique, leave a lot to be desired, and have no replay value. Whereas most of the games I listed don't have console counterparts, are much more complex and not
dumbed down, and have a ton of replay value by means of more content, more ways to complete the game, and/or mods.
Gears of War is just another awful generic shooter. Killzone 3 is acceptable, but has nothing on the likes of NS2 or Crysis/Crysis Wars. The Last of Us, Uncharted series, MGS series aren't bad, but don't offer much in their respective genres. As story driven games those are all decent, though they obviously come nowhere close to story-driven RPGs, and they're just not going in the right direction. As a survival game, The Last of Us is dated, is too generic, and lacks intensity. The Uncharted games are just riddled with gameplay flaws, and as a stealth shooter, MGS has fallen behind.
The horror genre is dead on console and is just endangered as a whole. Their racing games have a lot of catching up to do. These games just don't appeal to me. Once upon a time they did, but since then I've moved up to bigger and better games. My "standards" are higher so to speak, I'm much harder to please than most. If I stuck to consoles, I definitely would have been bored of gaming long ago.Edited by boredgunner - 6/28/13 at 11:25pm
