Adaptive Vsync Question

Thread Starter

I am asking this question out of curiousity.

I actually sold my 590 and waiting for a 670 SLI. But when i had Turned on Adaptive Vsync for games, i had really good results. My Screen is a 3Dvision ready screen from Acer and support 120hz.

In battlefield 3, adaptive vsync set my max frame to 120hz which was nice. In other games same thing happened and i was very happy with the results.

However in Crysis 2 when i turned on adaptive sync, the max FPS i had was 60. The game never went above 60 as if I had a 60 hz screen.

Any thoughs about this issue?

When I turned off Adaptive sync in Crysis 2 i could easily hit around 70-80 fps.

Shoddy console-focused cross platform game ftl? *shrug* probably because i never got anywhere near 120.

I had not the same but another vsync problem in c2 with my 670, and that was v-sync (adaptive or regular+3 buffer) just plain not working to remove tearing. It would hold fps to 60, but the tearing was still obviously there. I played it for a bit on the new .42 drivers last night though and it appears to be gone, at least in the area of the game I was playing. I'd imagine that means it's fixed but not 100% sure.

Unfortunately I've never had a 120MHz monitor so I know nothign of troubleshooting methods for this problem, sorry redface.gif

even if lets say that it is a crappy port, i still dont get why i am limited to 60 fps in a game which is not fps locked under adaptive vsync while having a 120hz monitor.

I might have experienced your problem too but can not remember. And since i dont have my rig, i can not test it out. I actually turn off vsync for all my games but wanted to give adaptive vsync a shot.
