Is it worth it to buy a new GPU now? What new demanding games will be coming out?

Thread Starter
I'm in the process of selling off my 470 and looking to buy a 670 or a 680.

But recently I've been debating it; it will be a $420-$540 investment that I'm not sure is going to pay off quite well.

I love PC games, but it doesn't look like any new noteworthy games are coming out any time soon. All I really know of is Max Payne 3, which will benefit from the 600-series but not by much.

What GPU-intensive games are coming out that you guys are looking forward to in the upcoming months?

I am interested to see what opinions you get because I am in the same boat with my 470. Though I think I am going to wait till Christmas before grabbing a gtx670 and i5 ivy.

I would say that you wait. I was thinking about upgrading my 5970, but I really wouldn't see a huge improvement because most games aren't built to utilize the new hardware.

ya I think there is already plenty to stress a 470, all depends on how you enjoy your settings. If you dont mind running games on medium/high is little to no AA/AF then your just fine. If you like maxed out eye candy you cannot get enough GPU power.

I get the itch to upgrade my 6970, but I run everything on high/max very comfortably. That may change once I step up to a 120hz monitor.

I almost want to say you should wait for GK110 to release before buying. I did the side-grade approach and got myself a GTX670 to replace my GTX470s in SLi because of reduced heat output, power consumption and noise on top of increased compatibility with games that don't play well with SLi.
