That shouldn't be happening. Even my old Pentium 4 computer didn't get lag like that until it had over 300 viruses on it(long story). I'd suggest running virus checks and checking to make sure nothing is overheating and thottling or on it's way out. As for your previous questions Filco are good, they were top recommendation for mechanical keyboards back when I was looking for one 2 years ago. I doubt that's changed much. Reds are good if you're a light typist, they've got near no resistance. A lot of people like that, I couldn't even touch a key without pushing it.

I had this problem ever since I switched to an old Apple USB keyboard. I always do a fresh install every month and I always run Microsoft Security Essentials. There is absolutely no way that a virus is the problem.

ROFL. True but irrelevant.

But I don't need any of those things. I don't ever change my keyboard unless it dies and I hate backlighting. I'm also going for a TKL keyboard which will probably draw slightly less power any  way. I don't see why I would need more than one keyboard plugged into my system.

Also, I'm not running on the latest and greatest hardware.

Athlon X2 64 5000+ @ 2.6Ghz with a GeForce 6150 SE nForce 430 integrated GPU.

CM QuickFire Rapid w/ Red Switches
Leopold Red or Brown

The Choc Mini doesn't have PS/2 and no tenkeyless Filco is available in the U.S. w/ red or brown switches.

I'm having a very hard time deciding which key switch to get. I never tried out a mechanical keyboard. Someone help me with this.

Is it true that Leopolds are a bit mushy due to their stabilizers?

The CM Quickfire has a good rep but I'm not a fan of the font.

Blank keys are preferable.

Thanks.

I've had about five or six different mechanical boards...I ultimately decided the CM Storm Quickfire Rapid w/ Cherry Reds was my favorite of the bunch. I sold my Filco TKL w/ blacks to purchase a second Rapid for work even. Now I'm down to the same board at both home and work. Couldn't be happier.

If you're not a fan of the font, you can always do what I did with my work one...buy a set of engraved black on black PBT keys off ebay (qtan I believe is the seller) and you can completely black out your board with the red back plate, it looks awesome. Can always save some money and just get some blank black ABS keys as well. All will still be cheaper than going with something like a Filco.
