Hello,

I will be upgrading to a 3930K and would like some opinions on motherboards. I am deciding between:

ASUS P9X79 DELUXE

ASUS P9X79 PRO

ASRock X79 Extreme9

ASUS Rampage IV Formula

The system will be watercooled using a custom loop. I will be running two 670s and 16gb of the low voltage Samsung. If any of that makes a difference.

My questions are, which board would you choose and why? Do the extra power phases on the ASUS boards make a difference? Do I need to be concerned with the large amount of dead board reviews on Amazon and Newegg?

The problem is most people who like their board will not write a review. So you only hear about the bad ones, nothing to worry about there

I would choose the Asus Deluxe, I have heard better about Asus than ASRock, just my 2 cents

I love my RIVF, very good spacing for GPU's when using 2 but can use up to 4. The red led feature is nice and it OCed well so far. It's also normal ATX factor unlike the RIVE, not that it matter much but still.

I was looking at the the RIVE but that is a bit out of my budget. That board looks nice and is priced a little better for me. I will definitely be adding that to the mix. Any particular benefits to the RIVF over the DELUXE? Other than the overclocking tools.

4X PCIE in RIVF vs 3 on deluxe
Better audio on the RIVF
8 X Memory Lane on the Deluxe vs 4 on the RIVF
No bluetooth on the RIVF
black/red color scheme vs blue color scheme.
Im pretty the LAN on the RIVF is also better but im not really sure it make a difference with todays ISPs.
Built in red led in the lower left corner that really shine in your case.
LAck of ROG options on the Deluxe

But i don't think any of this is a deal breaker, I personally went for the ROG board because it's the 3rd one i use so far and they are very solid, I love the red/black color scheme vs the blue, and while color may sound trivial or silly, i wouldn't like paying that much for something that i don't like the look of it.

Everything that Frank33 said. It´s basically a overall better board. It´s not that the Deluxe is bad or anything, but the RIVF is simply a better board afaik.
Unless you´re in need of bluetooth or 8 RAM dimms, you´ll be extremely happy with the RIVF!
