I agree that the packaging sucks.. my stuff usually only comes about 75 miles so it's just fine.. but I would still prefer peanuts, or bubble wrap, or bubble sheets, or expanding foam, or SOMETHING.. I also hate getting RAM from Newegg shipped in a lightly padded envelope via USPS - that's a joke.

Expensive components demand better treatment than this.

I don't mind the padded envelope, personally. I've gotten two sets of ram like that and frankly, those padded envelopes get treated like a newborn kitten compared to how UPS treats boxes. Envelopes aren't even handled by people for the majority of their trip, they just get transferred from one bin full of envelopes to another, and sent down auto-sorting conveyors. Really any package sent through USPS is going to be handled far better than if by a private carrier; one of the many reasons I push people to support the post office with their dying breath.

I was in there the other day and heard a rooster crowing from the back room. When I asked if someone's singing clock had gone haywire, the lady at the desk told me that someone had shipped some chickens (Try getting UPS to ship live animals) and they got lost, but were noticed almost immediately and sent back to the shipper for another day or so on the farm so that they wouldn't spend more than 24 hours in transit without a break. They have policies for everything.

UPS guy came by today, they hadn't gotten in touch with him about the claim yet but he said that if I hadn't called them about it yet he could've just rescanned the package, entered it as refused and it would have gone back to them for a full refund, no fuss no muss. I'm going to remember that next time. As it stands, now I'm waiting through memorial day weekend before I can send it back.
Edit: Another update. Just checked my email and a new card was shipped out today by UPS 3-day. So hopefully they'll just pick up the war victim when that one is delivered.
If this one comes from Tennessee, and is yet again packed in paper with the card sitting on top with nothing between it and the top of the box......

Funny thing is the box coming from TN contains my CPU, GPU, and keyboard. But every time my orders are mixed like that it's all in peanuts and packaged in the middle of the peanuts. We shall see Tuesday when everything gets here.

Just to make sure that I wasn't turning down a golden card and had to convince the UPS guy to give me time to swap out shrouds I popped the damaged card in this morning, and it has some really high temperatures. 90C at stock clocks. Could be that the heatsink was unseated, but it's already replaced, no point in screwing that up just to find out if it's damage or superficial stuff causing the temps.

Edit: Annnd it's showing artifacts. Only in the top 1/5th of the screen, so I'm going to take a guess and say that's a result of something being physically damaged.

Update: Third card came in today. Same packaging, same signs of being beat around during shipping. It's not physically broken like the second one, but I'll have to wait until I get home to pop it in and find out if there really is anything wrong with it. I'll also be posting more pictures and more details.
