[FORBES] Apple's Next Game Change is Television (video) - Page 5

Ughh God more obnoxious Apple products to see all over people's houses. doh.gif I can see it now. $2,500 for a 42" TV that is no better than any standard 55" LED that you can get for $1,500.

I refuse to admit that!!!! I don't have iTunes, I don't have a Mac, I don't want to be pestered every 2 seconds about it when I try to sync something with my computer. Like you said, there are plenty of phones way ahead of them hardware wise and Android and WP7 (my phone of choice biggrin.gif) have made huge steps this year to put out better competition.

AND.... iPhones are the least durable phones on the market by farrrrr. I know of about 2 billion people (maybe I'm slightly exaggerating) that have broken multiple iPhones. Can anyone name 1 other product that someone will break 5 or 6 times and STILL go buy a 7th one???? Kudos to their marketing campaign though that has everyone brainwashed into thinking their phone is the only good one on the market.

It's not a bad phone. It's actually a good phone. But it's not the best phone. And certainly not worth all the praise.

The sad thing about apple is that people will buy apple products because they have the word "Apple" on it.

Just like cod fanboys will buy every cod every year no matter what because it has "Call of Duty" in the title.

When people buy products like that without doing research or whatever it just frustrates me. I know people that have bought an apple laptop that had worse hardware and was more than $500 more expensive than a windows laptop just because it says apple on it....doh.gif That is just pure stupidity imho. You can put mac osx on a PC if you want the operating system......and I believe is like only $30 or somthing cheap.

Brand loyalty is just stupidity....do your research and find the best product at the best price imo at least that is what I do.

-Sent from my TV. (Well, actually, just displayed on it while I type this and send it from one of my computers tongue.gif.)

Not an Apple fanboy at all, but on the top of my head:
When the iPhone 4 came out it had the highest pixel density IPS display, and possibly highest resolution of all mobile device.
The iPad 2 had the fastest GPU when it came out.
The iPad 3 still is the mobile device with the highest resolution display.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

As I'm sure everyone knows this by now, I do not like Apple. BUT you are right, they do always have very nice displays. You'll pay crazy amounts of money for them, but their displays are usually top notch.

Prefacing what I'm about to say by stating that I honestly couldn't care less if people want to buy Apple products--to each their own.

Except I find it hard to believe that displays are the reason why someone buys a Mac, as you can get the same display on any other system. Apple, as far as I understand, doesn't source display tech from companies that deal exclusively with Apple. And in fact, I was always under the impression that other laptop manufacturers beat Apple to integrating 1080p panels into laptops (I could be wrong--I don't know for sure). And as an external monitor, I think it matters even less since you can usually get any monitor you want, regardless of computer brand.

^ Well hey I couldn't care less either, I love having Apple users as customers. The simplest repair gets me $200 easily, where I would normally charge a PC user 50 bucks or so. Without the sheep I'd have to get 4 PC customers to get what I normally get from just 1 Mac customer. I just love it because they have this odd belief that their Macs are gold and actually take more time/effort than any regular PC to repair. If anything, the laptops and desktops are easier since they are mostly screw-less. If displays are the "top" reason people buy Macs, I feel even more sorry for them redface.gif You can grab a pretty sick Dell IPS monitor for a great price nowadays.

Crap like that irritates me to death (referring to the notion that the logo on your computer somehow makes you artier or more creative.) A friend of mine is going to art school and didn't know until he had already paid the tuition that MacBook Pros were required. He's not in the best position financially and was already hurting from the tuition/fees, and then they wanted him to buy a $2,000 laptop to run Photoshop on top of it all. Even more ridiculous when you consider the following:

1.) Windows PCs are just as capable as Macs for running Adobe software and at lower prices

2.) The Cinema Displays that the school uses are advertised as "zomg IPS" but have a narrower colour gamut because of the LED backlighting, making them inferior to a CCFL based Eizo or NEC pro display.

3.) See 1.

4.) See 2.

Really, there is no practical reason to use Apple for "creative stuff" and schools that do this might as well pour gasoline on their money and light a match.

I'm just confused by people buy macs. Makes ZERO sense. Less powerful hardware, but costs more money....I must be missing something. Do macs come with genies or magic fairies or somthing?

If they want the OS they can run the mac os on a custom computer/non-apple laptop and I'm pretty sure it is cheap.
