I need help getting started with an HTPC setup

Thread Starter
So I am pretty new to the whole HTPC thing and I really don't know much about then, so sorry for my noobishness. biggrin.gif So what I want to do is be able to drop my TV provider and just watch TV from the internet and also occasionally watch a stored movie and play stored music. I want to watch Hulu Plus and Netflix and be able to record the shows too, if possible. We record lots of stuff on our current DVR for satellite TV and it would be nice to have that when we drop the TV provider. This will all be done at 1080p too. One more thing, can I do all of this from my internet?

Check out xbmc. I would set up your current pc like an htpc and see how you like it. Then maybe build a dedicated htpc.
