Check and see if you left a piece of paper, or tape or debris on the back of the screen.

I had to take my bezel back off because I forgot to take of that yellow tape that holds the screen protector on. 450

I know how annoying it is to get into a dv6, HP don't like to make anything easy for us. frown.gif

This upgrade sounds awesome though, I would love to upgrade my dv6 but it will probably be dead in another couple of years so I don't want to waste money on it.

I was just going to add...the heatsink and fan are great...the dissipate heat at 9 oclock and 12 oclock...kind of like how mac book does except it's on two different sides. I don't think this will be dead in 2 years at all....the wiring is strong and everything is well put together and the Hard Drive has actually padding to protect against shock. I rarely get a chance to go into many new laptops...usually I fix old ones...and the only new ones i've been in are Dell and they are gosh aweful...these HP make me proud.

But was it really worth the $150? It's even not a customizable laptop like the clevo's?

Mine is one of the ones where the cooling is only just adequate, It has vents in the same places as yours but they just don't work very well. If you are doing anything CPU intensive for any length of time it will heat up, although it doesn't get hot enough to burn.

I completely dismantled it last week and cleaned it out with the compressor and it will still reach 70°C+ core temp, the highest I have ever seen the core temperature was 92°C

Well first...I don't know if it's worth the 150 upgrade yet....so far it's great since I teach office applications...I can see more stuff on my screen now...so it's already kinda paying for itselft. I can't tell to much difference in watching movies...but the pictures on there look much better....not ot mention glossy screens are terrible for outside.

I don't monitor my CPU temps....its not like the cpu is ever going to go out.......it's the GPU you have to worry about...and the max i've seen it get up to is 84 celcius after playing mass effect for 2 hours...but usually it's at about 78 celcius. I wouldn't worry about the cpu temps if I were you.

I completely dismantled it last week and cleaned it out with the compressor and it will still reach 70°C+ core temp, the highest I have ever seen the core temperature was 92°C

My laptop was more then 99°C. The thermal shutdown temp was at 101°C. So I decided to cut a hole in the back of my laptop where the heatpipe and the cpu is and also I cut a hole where the radiator is. Then I bought a laptop cooler with a 210 mm fan. Now I'm able to max out the cpu but it's like 99°C during intense stress (prime95, gaming). But it doesn't shutdown anymore, which is what I wanted to avoid. Another bad thing with laptop is the bad driver support. It's almost impossible to use the original drivers but you must use the drivers from the laptop brand. Better buy a Mac is better hardware and software support (if they aren't so expensive and stylish).

I wouldn't worry about the cpu temps if I were you.

I checked the CPU specs and it is fine up to 100°C so I'm not that bothered about the hardware, I'm more concerned about my legs which the laptop is sitting on. I know how hot the outside of the case is at 80°C but I have never felt it at 90°C+ as it was on a table when it hit 92°C.
