[PCG] Treyarch on why Black Ops 2 doesn’t need a new engine - Page 15

secretly, deep down, i think we can all admit the only bottleneck to the graphics of this game, is the fact they demand to run it at 60 fps.

personally I prefer playing games on low graphics with 120fps, then high graphics with 60fps, so I do have to support them.

However, I still enjoy getting on the bandwagon occasionally.

edit: I would welcome a choice on their next game, higher graphics at 30fps and lower graphics at 60fps for consoles. They can run that engine at double the framerate battlefield 3 can, so they definately have LOTS of room to up the graphics if they want to compete with battlefield 3 at 30 fps.

Wait, so...

Our hardware progresses as our developers remain just... stagnated.

Pointless.

See, the most crucial thing people don't understand about the game industry is that once you've bought the game you have NO RIGHT to complain about any aspect of it. It's like giving your money to a thief and the complaining that your money got stolen.
I'll admit I too have done it many times. I did it with Crysis 2 where I complained about the multiplayer that was so buggy I'm shocked it made it past alpha, I complained about Mass Effect 3's watered-down aspects and terribad ending, I complained about BF3 and it's mechanics.....all the while knowing that complaints are futile because the developer already has my money frown.gif

hypocrisy thy name is you. Yes I get the irony, but the main reason I buy COD games is for MP. After a tough day, I usually load the MP and have alittle fun with my friends. I have played BF3, and while they did push the graphics, i was more angry with this purchase than i was with any other COD game(Not trying to start another flame war, just my opinion). COD is fun for me because I just like to run wild and kill people. I don't like strategy. BF3 has too many campers and I die for no reason too often, without reason. That is most likely due to my lack of skill, but I hate the camping issue. I've never had this problem with COD.

Don't let people tell you to hate something that you already like. Screw 'em. But I think what he is saying is that by purchasing the game when they do things like this, you are perpetuating bad behavior on the development side. Many of us don't want to support that mentality, so we refuse to buy. Personally, I didn't buy BF3 and haven't bought COD since MW2 , the last Infinity Ward game in the series.

While agree with you, that last thing you said got me. xD Freaking campers are in every game. Both BF3 and CoD are pretty bad, but that's because there's many people that play both of them. I have encountered many campers in Call Of Duty games and it was a regular thing and by regular, I mean every single match. It didn't bother me that bad, but I'm just saying it's a problem in FPSs in general. tongue.gif

I like how even your analogy is biased. xD At that point, it really comes down to preference and neither would be a smarter buy. That was a bit ridiculous.. lol.

A smart buyer would actually buy a 911. tongue.gif

Club events and reliability to just start it off. Also one of the few automakers in the exotic scene to still include a Manual Transmission.

Shhh... xD We don't need this thread falling into the topic of cars. Car bias is worse than most others. biggrin.gif

Exactly. Why do people forget that they're running a business and the chief goal of a business is to make money and lots of it. They're doing just that.

Why should they go out of their way to satisfy some gamers? This issue has been brought up for several sequels now as if it's a shock that this is how they've chosen to go forward with the series.

No need for a new engine...However, to upgrade the existing one would be grand.

Valve and Bethesda really should use version numbers, Source and Gamebryo are both great engines (No, Bethesdas bugs do not come from Gamebryo before I hear that usual complaint) and are constantly updated; you don't need entirely new code when most of it's going to do the same as the old code anyway.
