I don't remember focusing on graphics. The Engine doesn't even define graphics. New engine =/= always better graphics. (aka Crysis v. Crysis 2 debatably)
Graphics can be upped with proper artwork and tricks.

Besides....

I don't remember any of my comments focusing on graphics. Hense you skating around the subject rather than actually comprehending what has been posted.

The fact of the matter is Activision is doing nothing to expand their franchise and make the game itself better. Maybe BLOPS 2 being futuristic will add some spice to the series, but I am doubtful. Not to mention Treyarch hasn't impressed me so far with their COD offerings. They are always poorly executed and glitchy as hell.

The graphics shouldn't be a big surprise to ANYONE.

CoD have been the exact same game with different maps, guns, and killstreaks since MW1. If that is all that they are going to change between games, how could you expect them to change engines until they are forced to?

Also, people comparing BC2 to BF3 and CoD1 to MW3 is laughable. If anything, games can be graphically compared to other games in the same series (sequels and prequels). Starcraft 2 is a sequel to Starcraft 1 and can therefore be compared, as can BF2 and BF3, BC1 and BC2, and all of the games in the Modern Warfare series. Graphics aren't very important, but there should logically be a noticeable step-up between games to warrant the price and the fact that it is a new game.

meh, I'll buy it, play it, and enjoy it. No reason to complain. It's not like it'll cost my first born.

And a new engine will help that? I really don't know what your arguing about anymore. If not for graphics how would a new engine help cod please elaborate? Expand their franchise? Why would they need to do that? Have you seen their sales figures? Why change something that isnt broken? Just because you and I don't care for COD doesn't mean there aren't millions out there who love the formula. If your not talking about graphics and your not talking about gameplay what the hell are you talking about. Most people would agree the primary benefits of a new engine are new graphics and effects. Also Crysis 2 with everything with the dx11 tessellation update looks amazing so I don't know what your talking about and imo better than Crysis 1 but it makes pcs chug.

That ridiculous. Why is console always put first? It DOES need a new engnie along with MANY multiplayer changes. I will not be buying it anyway. After the failure that was MW3 I am done with the series unless a MASSIVE change is done before the next one. They should be learning and taking away from the battlefield series not just saying they are doing a great job so why should we bother?

The title of this thread nearly made me headbutt my monitor doh.gif

Of course it doesn't "need" a new engine but don't you think it's about damn time to work on a new one? None of the CoD games have looked any different since CoD:2 (the actual CoD:2, not MW2) and it shows...hard. That phrase that's been thrown around here for a while "vote with your wallet" is starting to make more sense to me every time I see a thread like this. If people continue to buy games like this that took less than a year to produce then the devs and publishers will see no need to change what their doing and continue to milk the baaasmiley.gif dry.

But, this little rant won't make any difference in someone's desire to buy this game, so I digress mellowsmiley.gif

Well if they started putting PC first maybe we would be getting better games and help move gamers off consoles to PC
post #99 of 160
why make a new engine when enough people are going to buy it anyway and set yet more records

I don't blame the devs at all for having smart business sense
