The problem with general statements like asking google to subdue information because is criticizes the government is we just don't have the whole picture there may actually be a reason for the request beyond "it makes us look bad"

You do realize for govenment to be effective you cannot "know" everything. For criminal cases to be effective the people canot be kept abreast of everything that happens.

If you look back at history you'll find our leaders take liberties with the laws on a somewhat regular basis. The most recent was our little foray into Packistan to elimate a gentleman we've been persuing. The president commited an act of war against a soverign nation without congresses at least public approval. It worked and we celebrated, if it hadn't we could very well be fighting a two front war in Afghanistan.

When people don't like what our "leaders" are doing they don't re-elect them, but most folks really don't care.

Remember " 'tis easier to beg forgiveness than ask permission "
