[SOLVED] PSU just lit up the room - Page 2

Sticking w/ single GPU & buying in store at canadacomputers? Pickup an Antec Earthwatts 500D for $55, $35 after MIR. Antec's great at MIR's, you'll get it.

The con is the unslightly unsleeved cables, otherwise it's a winner.

Friend decided he wanted to get a Cooler Masters 600W PSU. We installed it and everything booted up and worked perfect. Guess we were lucky all the parts survive. Thanks for the help everyone.

In all honesty, and to all the others posting here... sounds like you had a fluke unit. Topower units are reviewed to a fairly high score by Jonnyguru on his PSU site...

There's always the chance of error in electronics, sounds like you got the error. Good luck with the new CM PSU smile.gif

Which CM 600w? They arent known for making the best units either. The eXtreme Power line is fairly bad iirc

eXtreme power plus 600w? sicksmiley.png

450w PSU right there, and a craptastic one.

If you pull more than 450 W from this product, it will offer real risk to your computer, plus it provides poor efficiency, between 69.2% and 77.6%.

this is true. if you have the cash, return it and pick up a corsair, seasonic or PCP&C unit.

It was an eXtreme Power Plus 600W. Don't think he will change it though, he really didn't want the Corsair TX750 I recommended for some reason. They were even on sale for $95. Hopefully it works out for him. It's a lot of money to risk on a cheap power supply.
