New 6500 $ Rig to play farmville

Thread Starter
Hello there people!

We have a bit of an issue going on here so as usual when i have hardware problems or seek advice i come to see my fellow geeks at Overclock.net. But i ask you now to sit back and prepare a nice brick wall to smash your heads with because this going to be a very ... very disturbing thread.

Let us start with a small story about a guy who just, what can i say, adores farmville and some other facebook games. So he thought "my old rig isnt good enough for farmville " and so he bought the following system :

- ASUS ROG Rampage III Extreme mother board 1366 socket
- Intel core i7 960 3.2 GHz
- 24 GB Corsair dominators triple channel 1866 MHZ DDR3 memory kit
- 2 Western digital veloceraptors ( 10k rpm ) 300 GB and "raid 0"-ed them
- 2 Western digital 1 TB 7200 rpm 32 mb cache
- 1000W silverstone Strider Gold powersupply
- Zotac GTX 480
- The little things such as the razer gaming gear and the such .. as you all know how farmville demands the such

Now that our friend here had his rig and meddled with it for a year or two, and i guess the peeps at facebook sure are working hard to improve their game, and apparently, the rig is no longer able to handle all this graphical power and superiority that farmville may demand.

So now my friends, the guy wants a solution, he is looking into building a new system, one that would finally break the barriers of impossibility and that would finally manage to handle farmville as it should.

And here my friends is where you come in : this guy needs our help! 6500$ is the budget, not much but he has slight hopes of achieving the dream!

I did my part of talking to him, tried to lead him to reason a bit about what he is doing, but to no avail, the guy wants a new system no matter how much I talked to him, and still knowing that it wont help, still insists on getting that rig.

Well, he did want a 7970 at first, but then thought about it being . . . less than what is needed, so decided to go with two. And the 24 GB of RAM are most probably the reason why the game is lagging, so yeah more is better . . . preferably faster . . . well, you get the bloody point.

Now my friends, you have 6500$ as i said, make this man happy.. make his pony in farmville happy... and for god's sake, lets make him a system and be done with it.

I'm sorry, but what? confused.gif A Pentium 3 rig can handle flash games with ease. I fail to see why "your friend" needs even MORE power than a beastly i7 + GTX 480 rig to play Farmville.

I would advise your friend to take his money and go out and have some fun and get off Facebook.

I do know that anything can handle a flash game like farmville, but he wouldn't listen, so i posted this just to make him read it and see for himself that its very stupid. since he wouldn't believe me i thought that seeing people say it would finally get it in his head

Guys, enough with the troll comments. If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.

Let's wait and see what the OP really wants the build for.....

If this is the purpose of this thread, then yes your friend needs to realize that ANY computer that is capable of running Windows and an internet browser, is capable of running flash games. His current rig is already COMPLETELY overpowered for flash games.....I mean he could max out BF3 without AA quite easily. Flash games? That rig just laughs at those.

Tell him that it will perform the exact same as his "old" rig and call it a day.

Or have him sell you his old rig for dirt cheap.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
Although I'm mildly expecting a troll post here.

If your friend read this, you should not live on this planet anymore.

That game a $30 computer could run it.
That price you could have bought 4 times the computer you bought ( You got ripped off)
There are thousands of starving childrens around the world, some of them drink water you wouldn't even touch with your big toe.
You are a selfish capitalist egocentric person who doesn't deserve to have money at all. I bet all of your facebook friends are your Cityville friends and you know basicly 3 of them in real life (that's is outside the door, where the sun shines).

With $1000 you could have paid a chinese 1 year of farming, he would have been happy and you too, having 102930294903847289719 billions of fake coins with fake animals and fake cities, with all your fake friends.

Have a nice day.
