Hi all,

Im planning to build a lamp server / file server for software development, web sites and file backup.

I've been looking at the Zotac NANO-AD10-B Z:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Zotac-NANO-AD10-B-Z-Box-Dual-Core-Processor/dp/B005LM3EQY

Its small, low power. I would put 4 gig of memory into it most likely a Seagate momentus XT.

Now the alternative is to build a slightly larger, slightly more powerful mini ITX server, based on maybe an i3 or at a push an i5, but my real concern here is power consumption. I plan to leave it running 24/7, so I need to get the performance/power consumption right. The server will be running a mySQL database, quite a small one, with some lightweight code and apache, at a push I may use it to do some video transcoding, but slow encoding is not a huge problem. If i do decide to go with a mini ITX build opposed to buying the Zotac, ill probably raid 1 a couple of small disks, then I will be able to utilize the server as a file store/ backup device.

What do you think? Budget wise I dont really want to spend over £400

Thanks for the help.

Xerphiel.
