I will be upgrading my cpu soon, most likely to an i5 3570k, and I was wondering what is considered the best bang for the buck z77 motherboard? I will probably moderately OC the i5 but nothing extreme.

depends on your pricing. got a microcenter? asrock & biostar are the ones I would aim at, the $140-$50 ones.

The ASRock Extreme4 does offer nice price/performance ratio coming in at $135 on newegg. I think the Gigabyte ud3h is a nicer board for the extra $25. The gigabyte board has a more stable LLC, check out this review comparing the ud3h, extreme4, and a couple other boards: http://www.anandtech.com/show/5793/intel-z77-motherboard-review-with-ivy-bridge-asrock-asus-gigabyte-and-msi/9
The gigabyte board had the most stable LLC of the boards they tested, and produced the highest OC.
While the z77 extreme4's LLC is all over the place. I have the p67 extreme4, and have been very satisfied with it, with the exception of the LLC, as I feel perhaps I could push my 2700k slightly higher with a nicer board.

Are there any downsides to the gigabyte board? And is the LLC a problem on the asrock (i've only OC'd on AMD before)?Originally Posted by anubis1127Â

I've heard good things about the ud3h from another forum member I talk to on here, he has one, and loves it. The LLC isn't necessary a problem on my p67 board, it just makes OC'ing a bit more challenging, I can't say for the z77 boards, only knowledge of them is what I read in that review.
