I think if you use a test bench or something it would be fine as long as you don't let anyone in your room, don't drink or eat near it, don't have any pets. It looks cool and saves money, but you have to be careful about your components. You could build something nifty at home to save money but still protect your components.

make your own test bench using a piece of wood or iron or even use your motherboard box.

you will get great temperatures but your PC will be exposed to dust.

As long as all the components aren't on carpet or conductive things you should be fine. If you are going to run without a case i would put the motherboard and all the components on card board and keep it away from magnet. Good luck thumb.gif

I think just about anyone can afford a Gamma -> http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811146061&Tpk=nzxt%20gamma . $39.99 free shipping and 15% off.

I would get the nzxt source 210 over the gamma if your getting a case. they both cost the same but the 210 has much better airflow.thumb.gif

make a box out of legos (seriously) or just put it on straight up wood. All non conductive. though assuming the price of a cheap case would be around $40, the legos may cost you more tongue.gif

Here is my set up as the moment. everything is "piled" onto my end table with a RadioShack anti static mat under it. I'm not sure the mat was need but it doesn't hurt. This is going to be temporary until I finish modding my case but I have run many system like this. Just be careful, do poke at it with things, don't move it while you have expansion cards in the board. Try to avoid the giant mountain of stuff next to it like I have  rolleyes.gif (I know I should take my own advise) As long as you have it in a safe location you will be fine.

For piece of mind I'd go to your local PC shop, if you have one, and tell them you are looking a cheap case with good air flow because you trying to save cash for better hardware. If you can't do that dig through Newegg's case and find one on the low side the meets your needs.
