It doesn't really, you lose about 5% FPS overall..
As for the board i'd stick with the ASUS as it has more phases, which basically means more overclocking (this is overclock.net) and it will probably last longer!
That and Asus is a more well known brand! thumb.gif

You have a good point about the crossfire part. The TA990FXE looks like a really nice board. Its a little over my budget but it has a $25 mail in rebate. Might go with that one
