They are called SMARTboards. My old high school had about 100 of them. They're really not as neat as you would think they are.

This is much better than a smartboard....always having issues with them disconnecting, the projectors being out of alignment etc.

Doubt these will be $5k tho, probably at least 10k would be my guess

smartboards are nowhere near the same as what this is. lol. for one, smartboards still rely on projectors and alignment and issues with software/hardware.

this is basically a tablet blown up to an awesome size biggrin.gif

My primary school got them installed in 2002. They only cost £2,500 thumb.gif

Waste of time, no one is going to stand up and use a 80 Inch Touch TV and do their work there, its very tiring and not comfortable. Better off in an 20 inch mouse/keyboard computer.

But if it was built into a desk as the entire desk top, it could be awesome and useable.

That's already been done years ago by MS tongue.gif I forgot the name of it though.

What is essentially a giant tablet is much better than a smartboard, though.

Until you need the start menu, which is like saying "A pushbike still gets you places like a car...Until it's more than a few KM away."

And what if it's something that actually would benefit from touch? I agree if I was browsing OCN or the like, but if I was, say, doing group work that required everyone to be able to see and alter stuff at once, then this would be great.

Would be very useful for schools, businesses and such. Not sure how much a SmartBoard can do though.
