if they dont make one, buyers would just go for amd cards.

Well yea. Nvidia isn't stupid to release a competition card for that price point and at that performance point. But really .... show me something right now... a website, an article, a newspaper, a book!, a poster, a flyer, anything, that doesn't indicate a vague... "sources" confirms 660, this "mysterious unnamed guy" confirms 660, this "contact" confirms 660. I'd be happy if you can provide me something. I have googled and googled and googled... everyday since the 680 was released.

Yea I'm pretty sure nvidia is releasing something just because it's the trend, and just because I know how the market works. I'm also pretty sure some of the contacts might be true!

But quite frankly if I believe every **** found on the internet that has a source "our contacts", "sources", "unnamed honcho-who" then I might as well have believed the guy here who said it will be released in computex, I might as well have believed the other threads here that said it was going to be released with the 670. And I might as well have believed the world ended in May 27, 2011 and I might have also liked every picture of a starving child in africa in facebook because that will save them, I might also really have been contacted by the prince of some African country trying to deposit a huge amount of money in my account.

Yea nvidia isn't stupid, but hey... definitely some people are.

@shogrran

No need to get all worked up. Most of us are aware that Nvidia haven't released any official news on the 660 yet.

I made this thread asking people what they think about a 660's release date, price, specs, and all that because I am interested in a good Nvidia card below the price of a GTX 670. If Nvidia had released official news on the 660, I wouldn't have made this thread, so the articles spreading rumors are relevant to this thread. No one is stupid for posting those articles or what they think about the 660, I asked for it. You don't have to read articles. Even if you don't believe in what an article is saying, the article is still relevant.

Anyways, please refer to the last question in my first post, "What you guys think?" I just asked for their opinions, if articles can help, then that's even better.

I also, i believe that there would be a 660 (which is why I made this thread, pretty obvious).

Actually, it's nowhere even near 7750 performance (there's a couple of reviews of the card out). It's basically just a light gaming/HTPC card. I don't know why Nvidia released this card out of order (I thought they usually they start at the top and work their way down to the entry level cards). The 660 should have came out now, then the 650, then the 640. There probably is a niche which this 640 could fill; with its low power usage (draws its power from the pcie bus) and high shader count, it would probably make a kick ass dedicated PhysX card. Speaking of PhysX, are there any games on the horizon which are going to use it? It would be cool if the new Metro coming out used it.

I hear ya, the prices of the upper mid ranged cards are a little high this time around. I have a hard time justifying spending over $300 on a video card to play console ports which practically 95% of run fine with a $100 video card on a single monitor. I thought that we would've seen huge drops in prices of last generation cards by now. I still would hold out just a little longer to see what's going to happen with the video card prices. BTW, I think that most 7850s OC to 7870 levels of performance if you're thinking about going that route.
