Quick Fix for noisy hard drive...?

Thread Starter
I've just built a system with a TJ08 using a 1TB Caviar black HDD for a family member, they are coming over in the next 3 hours or so to pick it up and I am trying to figure out what would be my best solution to dampen hard drive noise?

Best Buy is the only relevant tech shop around here so I'm looking to "ghetto rig" it using non-PC designed parts. Any ideas? I was thinking of just going to home depot and finding some rubber rings or something to put around each screw.

Try using some normal elasticy rubber bands- if they're thicker, wrap them around the HDD.
Over the screw hole, punch the screw through, and screw it in that way.
Should stop the annoying rattles.

Turns out the SSD plastic latch thing in the bottom of the case was rattling with the HDD vibrations.

Removed it (couple screws) and the problem is solved. Typical HDD clicks but outside of that it is all good!

Yup. About to put 9 of those in my system. Tons of rubber mounts ready to go. But not looking forward to the hard drive clicks wink.gif.
