In a nutshell I'm wanting to start a small home security network using an outdoor camera, and possibly expand it to x2 cameras. I have several computers in the house, and all are connected to the same network. My Idea was to have access to view the cameras on all the computers in the house through the network. And, I'm not really sure how to accomplish this.
My Idea:
- All computers are running W7 x64 Pro.
- I know I need a capture card for the main system that the cameras are connected to.
- I'm assuming the "Main" system can just be set to be shared with all the other PC's on the network and can view the cams on the fly in real time?
- I need someway to record data in exact sizes, but that should'nt be a problem. Like once a file reaches 500MB, it would compress it and store it and so on.
- Not looking to spend a fortune!
Opinions? I'm a n00b to this, so feel free to post any suggestions / opinions you have. Rep will be given as well.
Thanks
ALSO:
The cameras are hardwired, they're not wireless. By network access I mean from an Ethernet cable. I'm assuming the main computer would be the system all the other computers would connect to, to view archived files and real-time video.
