Either one is fine. Asus and MSI are both excellent in their gpu department. Although I do recall an MSI rep here stating that your warranty will not be void when using waterblocks as long as you put the reference cooler back on when rmaing. Not sure about Asus.

And as for waterblocks, I'd personally get the aquacomputer 79xx. It is a really, really sexy block wubsmiley.gif

I'd pick any GPU from MSI or Asus anytime, both are good brands.

EK blocks are good, but just make sure they're not nickel plated. The nickel peels off after some weeks of use no matter if you use distilled or a concoction. Aquacomputer and Koolance also make nice blocks.

Better to have too much power than not enough! Decided to buy overkill so I wouldn't need to upgrade PSUs when, down the line, I wanted to install a custom loop(which I will be doing soon!)

Ahh that's reassuring to hear! It's crazy how many customer service reps patrol these forums and remain active within the community...and I love the look of the EK blocks with whole black looking going on :x

visiontek's warranty isn't that good in my experience, i was able to RMA my 4870 a while back but they require you pay the shipping both ways (enclose a cheque for return shipping).

Also the card i got back was a refurb for sure and couldn't OC well. I had to drop my Crossfire clocks to stock for it to play nicely.

BONUS QUESTION: What waterblock would ya suggest?

Since you are watercooling pick MSI HD 7970 . this card seems to have been designed for extreme OC. some peple say the PE has more power phases than the lightning. also find out from MSI about the warranty if you put a waterblock. do your research. thumb.gif

The newegg link for the PE says 17 phase, same as lightning. probably the same PCB. Haven't really seen much about the PE yet.

Looks like MSI may be the clear winner. Has more phases than the Asus card as well! Thanks guys!

Well that rules out visiontek! Thanks!
