Are my temps good?

post #1 of 20
Thread Starter
Hello! I just installed a XSPC RX360 in my system. I am not getting bad temps I think... but I don't know if they can be any better. The room is around 75-80F ambient and I am getting around 33-40C idle and 82C under load, at the most extreme part of doing Prime95 blend tests and using 90% of my ram. Playing a CPU heavy game such as Skyrim, I am only seeing around 60C load and then playing anything else is really mostly around the 50 range.

So with my overclock... 4.8GHz on an i7 2600k with 1.45v... am I doing ok temp wise? Before I would get 90C+ in prime at the highest temps and would get around 75C in skyrim using a CM 212+ with push/pull fans.

For some reason I feel like maybe I could be getting better cooling?

I've no experience with SB but those temps seem high to me!

Whats 75-80F in C?

First thing I would be doing is making sure all the air is bled from the loop, then I'd remount the CPU block. See where that takes you.

Will sound silly but if/when you decide to remount check that you removed the plastic film off the bottom of the block, you'd be surprised how many forget to remove that in their haste to get up and running wink.gif

im using a duel rad setup on 1.445v 2600k. 75% LLC, temps are around 64-68C on highest core. ambient around 20C.

82C is too high, id try remounting your block.

what thermal paste are you using? how much did u apply? how did u spread it?
how tight is the heatsink on the cpu?
since u run cf and your psu blow warm air into your rad too this may also be of at least a little importance ( how long does it need your loop to get that temps? )
is HT on?

what is your PLL?

are you sure you need this voltage for 4.8ghz?!
try lower vcore and run prime with 1344 / 1344 k size and 80% of your ram.

there are so many reasons that can affect on the temp biggrin.gif

75F = 23-24C
80F = 26-27C

1,45V on a sandy 2600K is too high for a day use, i would suggest to stop at 1.35V as max day use vcore voltage and check again the temp.

also, it will be useful to know yr water temp to see if the block and the rad are working properly

No it isn't, as long as you can keep it cool intel specs the 2600k up to a 1.52Vid. OP, those temps are too high. Perhaps you have an air bubble in your block. With the pump running rock your case gently back and forth to help bleed any air out.
