hd 7850 cf vs single gtx 670

both cost the same ati $20 more but which one of them would perform better? Currently have a gtx 580 which I'm planning to sell. I wanted to stick to nvidia cause I have a 3d vision set up on my pc but I hardly use 3d vision so I wouldn't mind switching to ati if it offers better price/performance.

Sapphire HD 7970 OC (1000 Mhz) - USD 480
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102982

Sapphire HD 7950 OC (950 Mhz) - USD 410
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102991

both cards are good OCers. excellent dual x cooler. fastest factory clocked HD 7950. has the same power delivery (8pin + 6pin) of Sapphire HD 7970 OC. clock for clock HD 7950 is 3 - 5% slower than HD 7970. With sapphire trixx this card will be able to hit 1100 even at stock volts. This card can also handle voltage OC very well . you can check out the perf review of the sapphire HD 7970 card

Go with GTX 670
Have a look here.

This is a single 7850 vs 670.
If you allow about 80% (conservative) increase for the addition of a second 7850, I think the performance would be better than a single 670. Of course, some people have a lack of confidence with crossfire and there is a little more potential for issues. Also, power requirements will obviously be much higher as well.

I'd go 7850CF - still don't regret my 6870CF purchase over a single 6970 or 580 for more money.

In the long run, the gtx 670 is a better bet. In a year or two if you feel the need for more performance, you could sli another 670. If you get two 7850's, you won't be able to upgrade (unless you actually want to go for tri-fire/quad-fire). Also, less power usage, noise and heat with a single card.

Oh really? Which revision? What model are we talking about here?? this apply to all the ati cards? Or what cards are you talking about with high/lower noise and heat?

Love how they come and talk about the mighty "20watt" difference between the cards and the supposedly noise and temps...

I havent change the cooler of my Sapphire 7970 OC ATI card and i bet you, its one of the coolest/silent cards out there...

CF 7850. Overclock a bit then you have a great gpu setup. A single 7850 overclock is in the range of 7950 which is close to gtx670. So cf you have almost double performance.

Read here: http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/4597/amd_radeon_hd_7870_2gb_reference_video_cards_in_crossfire/index3.html

Its 7870 but its like 10%-15% better in stock from 7850.

Also is the best performance/price gpu atm for me

2 of these is beast: http://www.guru3d.com/article/msi-radeon-hd-7850-power-edition-oc-review/

670, simply because it's not CFX/SLI

CrossfireX and SLI are solutions to be considered when a single card won't fit your needs. Buying 2x 7850 now leaves you with a solution heavily dependant on drivers, morer heat, more noise, no upgrade path, and less fluid gameplay.
