g500 possibly giving up

My g500 seems to freeze for a quick second every so often. I notice everything on the computer keeps working and playing. I am wondering if the lazer is cutting in and out.

I have been out of the mice game for a while i was wondering what is now good out there. Should i go for another g500? I dont play FPS competitive anymore, so extreme dot fot dot accuracy is not important to me anymore. I see the steelseries sensei and looks pretty nice. But i love the shape of the g500.

Any thoughts?

Try a different USB port, preferably one that's built-in in your motherboard.

I dont have that software installed. But i mean if it was working fine before it should still work the same.

I will try a diff usb an see if that does anything. The one that it is currently plugged into is connected to the mobo, but maybe that one is failing?

It does not make that USB disconnect sound. Just hangs for a quick second and comes back 2. At first i thought it was my computer, but video games keep moving, and so do videos on the browser and what not.

Quick dropouts/corruption normally won't make the disconnect sound.

My G500 was acting up. When holding down the mouse button, it would sometimes freeze up and not "fire" for a quarter of a second. And then the scrollwheel stopped working.

Logitech G500 has a 3 year warranty. I contacted them, and this is what they said.
Quote:
-unplug the mouse
-press and hold both mouse buttons for approximately 15-20 seconds
Note: This is to drain all of the residual power stored in the device causing the mouse to be reset.
-let it sit for a minute or two
-plug the device directly at the back of the tower preferably into a working 2.0 USB port
-run a test and observe

If the issue still occurs, please try the device on a different computer with and without the software installed.

I would also like to inform you that you do not have to return the device, we will be replacing it free of charge if it is under warranty.
The estimated time frame would be seven to ten business days which includes the delivery.

Then it stopped acting up for a few days, a hint here and there it might do it again, but till then I still have another year of warranty, I'll see how it turns out thumb.gif
