Hello all,

Well, her we are. This is my first post. I just came accross this site, after many years out of the scene. Just got back in to gaming and want to get a decent agp card for hl2. currently have rad 8500 which was a decent card in its day, but too slow now. I am looking at an XpertVision ATI Radeon X800GTO which is in my low low price range. Does anyone have experience with this card. I know it wil blow away my 8500, in stock form, but I have this bad bad disease that forces me to fiddle with things to get the absolute last bit of speed out of them. Do you know what I mean???

Any help appreciated.

Current system. -if you can call it that :-(
Just stuff that I scrounged up out of old systems,
except for the drives vcard and ram.

AMD Sempron 2400
Gigabyte GA-7VA
512 Corsair DDR400
ATI Rad 8500 64mb
Hitachi 80gb HDD
Liton DVD burner
etc etc.

Hello and Let me be the first to say Welcome to Overclock.net.

Please take a few minutes to read the TOS

And Also Fill in your User Specs by Clicking User CP and Then Edit System Specs

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The GTO is the basicly the same chip as my old X800GT and it run CS:S and HL2-E1 on High detail AA 6X and HDR 2.0 so It should run it fine

You will see a large increase in performance in HL2 if you upgrade your ram to 1gb aswell

Good Luck

Thank you for the warm welcome. :-)

The new card turned up yesterday and I am very pleased. Good price and ultra fast delivery. 5 days from the U.S. to my door in Australia, and that was including the weekend!
I loaded the Catalist 6.8 beta drivers last night and all seems ok. Played HL2 last night at high settings, so that was good too! Have got the day off work today, so might get some sleep now.
