Stacking Tecs

Thread Starter
Hi all,

I have 4 Tecs in my chiller and 4 unused tecs. All of the Tecs in use are running at 6v or 12v, depending on setup. In ambient temperatures around 26C, my water is chilled to 15C@6v, and 10c@12v. Unfortunately the Tecs are 35V (288 couples), so I am running them at very low.

I would love to have the water chilled to about 0C, or even below that, so I am considering tec stacking. If I stack them, eventually where the one at the outer cold side at 6v, and the one at the hot side at 12v. Will it help? and how will it behave if I run all tecs at 6v.

Ambient: 25-26C
Load: Pentium D930 at stock, IST and C-states disabled + EK DC4 Pump. Guess its about 55W.

Today
Setup #1 low-power ~80W
water: 28-29C
---Hotwater block--
----TEC 6v---- (~20W)
--Coldwater block--
water: 15C

Setup #2 high-power ~300W
water: 31-32C
---Hotwater block--
----TEC 12v---- (~300W)
--Coldwater block--
water: 10C

Question- future
Setup sandwich #1 low-power ~160W
water: ?C
---Hotwater block--
----TEC 6v---- (~20W)
----TEC 6v---- (~20W)
--Coldwater block--
water: ?C

Setup sandwich #2 high-power ~380W
water: ?C
---Hotwater block--
----TEC 12v---- (~75W)
----TEC 6v---- (~20W)
--Coldwater block--
water: ?C

Today two Tecs are placed next to each other between waterblocks, and I got two of those sets. What I want to do is just putting in one more on top of each tec.

ty,

It seems that it worked for you, but you are running a lot more power through your blocks.

I consider to buy some cheap 12v ebay tecs. 6v and 12v doesnt really seems to pull it on my 35v, 288 couples tecs.
