How about you read carefully!

Kaspersky's first recorded instance of Flame is in August 2010, although it said it is highly likely to have been operating earlier.

Hence they found it in 2010

All good smile.gif. Again i don't know why this is just coming out now, they must have it contained so it can be public knowledge.

I find the lack of logic in this post astounding. To find threats, they must investigate them

Hop on Kaspersky's blog sometime: www.securelist.com

They often reverse engineer them to patch them for their customers e.g. look up their Flashfake posts.

“Whoever created it was careful to mess up the compilation dates in every single module,” Gostev said. “The modules appear to have been compiled in 1994 and 1995, but they’re using code that was only released in 2010.”

That's what gives rise to the 2010 guess at the date of release.

And don't be so cynical about it being found by an AV maker, these guys are PAID to go hunting for this kind of stuff, so they can put detection routines to find it in their software. If they didn't hunt out these threats, we'd all be complaining about them not being able to stop it.
